Lost Little Lamb
Like the lamb of Jesus story
I have wandered far away
Lost upon the arid hillside
So proudly gone astray.
Now I'm stranded upon a precipice
The foolish heights I climbed
I understand perfectly
The fault is mine.
I should have stayed with Jesus
Kept close to his side
Allowed the shepherd to lead
His sheep that is blind.
Night is falling quickly
The wind and wolves howl
Predators circle around me
Ready for the kill.
There in the distance
A familiar lamp I see
Then hear the Gentle Shepherd
Inviting, "come follow after me"
But I am still uncertain
Of the darkness and the path
And fearfully I cry
"In the shadows will I die?"
So the Shepherd hurries
Down to where I remain
He lifts me to his shoulders
Whispering my name
"My little lamb don't worry,
I was always here."
"I watched as you climbed
And wandered from my fold
I allowed you your freedom
So reckless and bold"
"Maybe now you've learned
To stay, safe beside me,
In everlasting day."
